The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Strategy and Corporate Centre (SCC) - Corporate Responsibility and Communication Department (COM) - Press Office Division (PRESS) a:
Press Officer - Nordic/Baltic and Poland
The Press Officer will carry out corporate communication activities in order to contribute to implementing the EIB's media strategy, developing and managing relations with the media and other stakeholders in Nordic/Baltic and Poland to enhance understanding of the EIB Group as a financial institution contributing to the implementation of EU policies.
S/he will operate in the context of incoming media questions on normal but also complex and sensitive issues and also will proactively communicate the Bank's messages to the media.
Accountabilities:
The Press Officer will report directly to the Head of the Press Office Division and work in close cooperation with colleagues across the Communication Department.
Contribute to the elaboration of a media strategy in the context of the overall Bank?s communication strategy in order to effectively promote the organization
Stay abreast of current economic and political events, activities and trends relevant to the Bank
Have a good network of journalists and editors that are important to the Bank and proactively seek out areas/occasions for promoting the Bank externally
Seek opportunities for interviews and press conferences with the President, Vice-Presidents or Senior staff and have these well prepared
Handle information requests from media representatives concerning projects financed and the Bank's activities in different sectors
Implement media initiatives/events (e.g. interviews, news conferences, media briefings and workshops) in assigned countries
Originate, prepare and write press releases, news stories and reports on EIB activities for publication and/or presentation
Prepare background and briefing information for media events and other communication activities of the members of the management committee
Prepare and/or deliver presentations on the Bank?s activities to visitor groups and other audiences
Qualifications:
University degree, with studies preferably oriented towards Economics, Business, Communications, Journalism or Political Sciences
At least five years? professional experience in journalism, corporate communication or related fields
Good knowledge of communication theories and concepts
Very good knowledge and understanding of the media market, especially in Nordic countries
Highly developed oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills
Excellent understanding of the EU institutional and political framework
Excellent knowledge of English and French; knowledge of a Nordic language or Polish would be a strong advantage
